Parent Staff Events 2015-16

This year began with a new team. After two very successful years, Mrs Brown decided to stand down due to increasing demands on her time from her work. She has been a real tower of strength and has made sure that the events which are a part of the St Osmund’s tradition kept going but also introducing some new ideas and events which were fun and a breath of fresh air. We must also say thank you to Andy McNamara who stood in as Treasurer last year and Tiff Wootton who was Secretary.

We now have a new Chair – Chantelle Rowe, who is also playing an active role in the Pre-School. Chantelle has four children, the oldest of which is in Year One. The new secretary is Sam Fulton who has a child in Reception class and the new Treasurer is Mrs McKie, mother of children in Year Three and Four. This team is, of course, supported by a wider team of parents who have lots of different experience of running PSA events at St Osmund’s over the years.

Why do we have a PSA?

The main aim of the PTA is to organise enjoyable events which raise money which can been spent on equipment and resources to enhance our children's education experience and the school's facilities.

At St Osmund’s, our PSA is so much more than a fundraising team. As the team works together and is joined by other parents and helpers close bonds are forged and it is an excellent way to bring staff, parents and friends together socially in support of the school, working towards a common goal. It can be fun, too - just ask any of the Committee members or PSA helpers. Obviously, as in any organisation, we have experienced some challenges but with the continued support of parents and staff, our PSA has always succeeded in its efforts.

All parents and members of the school community are encouraged to get involved, even if they only have a small amount of time available. All families are automatically members of the enter Association name when their child joins our school.

The PTA is extremely conscious of the ethos and diversity of our school, and we try very hard when organising and planning events to respect this. Not all of our events are run as fundraisers. Our children's discos and fun afternoons are run with the aim of giving the children a good time and as a way of thanking families for their continued support for the PSA.

Keep an eye on our noticeboard as you approach the school gates for upcoming events. We look forward to seeing you there!
