At St Osmund'swe aim to provide our children with a practical and positive mathematics curriculum. As stated in the National Curriculum, it is essential to everyday life, critical to science, technology and engineering, and necessary for financial literacy and most forms of employment. A high-quality mathematics education therefore provides a foundation for understanding the world, the ability to reason mathematically and a sense of enjoyment and curiosity about the subject.
Mathematics in our school includes , but is not restricted to, the following areas; number knowledge, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals, percentages, measurement, geometry and statistics.
Lessons are differentiated to suit the needs of the pupils and teachers also provide a range of cross curricular mathematical activities and challenges so that children have regular opportunities to use, apply and discuss their understanding of mathematics in different contexts.
