Love for God - Love for each other - Love for learning
Welcome to the St Osmund's Catholic Primary School website... Pupils say, 'people want to learn at St Osmund's' (OfSTED October 2018)... Leaders and governors are resolute in their determination to provide the highest quality of education, by raising achievement and by supporting pupils’ personal development. The school’s mission statement of, ‘Love for God, love for each other, love for learning’ informs all leaders’ actions and is understood and supported by pupils and staff. As a result, pupils behave well and they respond positively to each other and to adults (OfSTED, October 2018)... A school where the provision for prayer life, the pupils’ enthusiastic response, and the care and nurturing of the vibrant spiritual life of the whole school community are all outstanding, a true embodiment of the school’s Mission: Love for God ~ Love for each other ~ Love for learning (Section 48 Diocesan Inspection, April 2018)... Welcome to the St Osmund’s Catholic Primary School website.
I hope that as you browse through its pages you will gather a sense of what a wonderfully special place St Osmund’s is. Of course, there is no substitute for seeing us first-hand so if you are interested in joining us, please do give us a ring and we’ll arrange to show you what we are all about.
Where are we?
St Osmund’s Catholic Primary School sits at the heart of the stunning medieval city of Salisbury. We are based in a beautiful Grade II listed building with modern facilities and led by a group of dedicated, professional and highly competent staff.
How is the school organised?
Our 210 pupil, one form entry school is organised into 7 classes. St Osmund’s Pre-School is on the same site and, while it is privately-owned, we have a close relationship, ensuring that there is a smooth transition for those children who choose to apply from there to the main school. We also enjoy close links with the parish of St Osmund and each week, a class celebrates Mass with the parish.
Our families originate from many different countries giving the school a rich diversity. We celebrate the cultures of our children and the knowledge and understanding they can bring to all of us as we take our place in the multicultural Britain of today.
What makes us special?
We believe that school should, first and foremost, be a happy place where children develop a love of learning and their sense of faith. We challenge our children to achieve the very best that they are capable of and we instill in them ambition and drive to succeed. The care and welfare of each and every member of our school community is integral to the Catholic ethos of the school.
All who come to our school comment on the calm and respectful, yet purposeful and industrious atmosphere created by the children and staff. Our children are thoughtful, independent, and well-behaved; if you were to come and visit us, I am sure you would agree that they are best ambassadors of what our school values.
With all best wishes,
Mr R Sanderson
